When did you first start climbing/skiing?
When I was 13 when we went to local climbing gym with my school class on a sports day.
What do you most enjoy about your sport?
There’s no rules or one way of doing things, as long as you’re being respectful towards others and nature.
How do you define success?
Going to bed at night with a smile on your face.
What are you most proud of, either in life, your sport or both?
Having a broad perspective on life from years of traveling around the world and living in so many different cultures.
Who are your heroes?
Mostly not well known locals, who develop and find new climbing areas and do what they do not for recognition or fame, but because they truly love it.
What inspires you?
Doing something that your logical mind tells you is not possible. Striking lines that are just waiting to be climbed.
What are your hobbies outside of your sport?
Snowboarding, wakeboarding, surfing, basically any sport with a board. I used to BMX, but had to give that up because it’s rough sport and getting hurt all the time didn’t go so well with climbing.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Unlike many climbers trying to stay really skinny and light, my motto is fat and psyched.
Tell us about your most favorite place in the world:
I think Rocklands in South Africa. An ocean of the best sandstone in the world and the most gorgeous sunset every night.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Tell us about a time in your life when you have been scared:
Being lost at night in a small village in Mexico. 16 people had been killed in a drive by shooting recently and a lowrider narcos car very slowly drives past us.
