HeavyWeight Softshell Gloves is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Warm, breathable, but hard to get on I used these gloves on one backcountry skiing trip, but I won't be using them any more. Pros: They are very light weight and have a simple design I like. They are warm for their weight - about a mid-weight glove. They are very breathable. I put them on for the way down skiing, then just left them on for the skin up on lap 2, and my hands did not get sweaty at all. On the way up my first lap I had on my less insulated but waterproof BD Terminator gloves, and my hands got quite sweaty by comparison. They also repel water well. It was lightly snowing when I went, and my hands stayed perfectly dry with no wetting out of the fabric. Cons: First, they are very difficult to pull on with damp hands, even if they are only a little wet (sweaty, for example). So difficult that the cuff turns outside in around the wrist, and it is almost impossible to pull it back out, especially with a glove on the other hand. Second, they have PrimaLoft insulation on the palm which does not attach the outer leather to the inner lining. My hands slid all around on whatever I was holding - ski poles, steering wheel. I can't imagine trying to do anything technical with them. I will be getting BD gloves with fleece insulation on the palm and PrimaLoft on the back of hand instead. Even better might be the PrimaLoft Gold with Grip Control that Arcteryx uses in some of their gloves. Ideal use for these would be back-up gloves to keep in your pack in case your main pair get wet, because they are light and don't take up much room, but could keep your hands warm in about +10F temps while moving. And as a backup pair, maybe wrestling them on would be more acceptable.
