Expedition 3 Ski Poles is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for all seasons! I have been skiing for a long time and these are hands down my favorite poles so far. They fit in my pack when fully collapsed and they are very sturdy. Some people have complained about the powder baskets but I have not had any issue with them. In the beginning of the season, I ski the ice and crud of the midwest and they're holding up great. Not the lightest but totally worth the extra ounces for their packability. The only issue I've had is when using them to push down the heel piece on my alpine bindings. The FlickLocks do not seem to be able to hold the pressure I put on them when doing that but other than that I have had no trouble. I would definitely recommend them if you're not worried about weight. They also perform great for trekking!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Packable; versatile. Most of my outings are in the back country and I need poles that are collapsible and packable. These work great in those regards. I use these poles for both snowboarding and trekking. I've had some difficulty with the middle section being tough to collapse after a full day in wet snow when it has iced up. I have a similar issue from time to time on muddy treks. These may not be the lightest weight poles on the market, but they are durable, work well, remain sturdy, and are really good for collapsing and packing. They collapse to a very manageable length for ridge-climbing to a summit ski-descent, or when trekking and you need to stash them from time to time. If you're looking for a collapsable, sturdy, lightweight pole that is reliable: this is the one. My only complaint is, as I mentioned, that the middle section can be difficult to collapse when you've been through some gnarly mud or in prolonged icy conditions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Grip ices up They're comfortable in the hand, reasonably light, and pretty stiff for an aluminum 3-section pole. I haven't had a problem with the baskets falling off, despite getting them hung up in tree branches and rocks reasonably often. New plastic FlickLock is much bulkier than the old metal clamp (e.g. what you still get on the carbon Whippet), but muhc easier to use. Grips are comfortable without gloves, too, which is an enormous boon. The foam grip ices up, though. If it never touches snow it's fine, but if you get snow in between your glove and grip it's going to be on there for the rest of the tour. This does make them noticeably colder with thin gloves. The best method I've found of clearing snow/ice from the grips is just bashing the grips together. I probably won't buy them again, because I don't think I need two-section, let alone three-section, poles. If you need to fit the pole in a pack or duffel these are great, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Love it! However, the powder baskets fell off one at the time during the first two rides!! What is up with that! Found someone else's in another slope...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does it's job but... The powder baskets fall off pretty easily. Otherwise, they fold down nicely to fit on my pack. Work great for splitboarding.
