Rated 3 out of 5 by Nat from I want to love em' but can't quite do so... I have put around 20-25 days on my pair this season and love the light weight and great packability but am concerned about the durability. On day ONE of use the skins developed 2 small tears. In the days following they have developed a few more small tears and a puncture. In my more than 10 years of ski touring these skins have shown more wear & tear than all of my previous pairs of skins combined (and I have used many light weight, nylon/mohair offerings). The glue has worked fine. Not as sticky as the Ascension's but I often do 4-6 transitions and have yet to have a problem. If I knew they'd be so intolerant to daily use in the Wasatch I would not have bought them and simply stuck with the tried and true Gluidelite Mix STS.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Gage from Durability Issues Used 10 times in the PNW on varied conditions from wet and sticky coastal snow to fine cold smoke. Pro: light packable great glide good climbing glue sticks well (in cold temps will freeze together, really, really badly) Cons: tore the tip connector off after ten uses, less than a quarter of the season and in pre prime time touring season (Spring) longer to dry out than nylon Verdict? Try them in year two once they have fixed the bugs and stick to the previous model of mohair mix.

Rated 1 out of 5 by MMMM from Tip connector failed after 1 mile! The first skin tip attachment failed after 1 mile on the first day of use. The second skin's tip connector failed on the 5th day of usage (~40 miles). Failure point appeared to be the dynex or its attachment (the plastic pieces screwed on to the skin tip remained attached but the cord was lost.). At -20F over 12 miles from civilization with no cell signal, this is not the skin I would take with me ever again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by remoguide from good tool to earn your turns... Been using the UltraLite Mix STS for more then 30 days past winter and I am super happy with that skin. Had no problems at all. Used them on my Carbon Convert 180 and on my Helio 185, just changed the position of the back clip... Like the lightweight and pack volume very much. Never used the cheat sheet and it was not difficult to pull the skins apart. Only for storage in summer I put the sheet... First I thought the skin will wear out fast, but it doesn't show more use marks then any other lightweight skin I used before... even thought the tip piece will not last, but no damage on it yet... the skin never came off, even putting it on several times a day... will use that type of skin in the future... good tool for my guiding activities...

Rated 2 out of 5 by Beean from They're ok I've been using these on average four days a week for the season so I've got a pretty good grasp on the pros and cons. Pros: Light. These things make going uphill a dream (if they stick) Pack down really flat. It's awesome, I can put them in my jacket not look pregnant. They dry fast too because they're thin. Glide is smoother than Michael Jackson in his prime. Really increases your efficiency on long days. They climb great provided you set a reasonable skin track, which you should be doing anyway. Cons: Glue is terrible in all conditions except -11ish degrees. In cold conditions it's just held on by tension and in warm temps I'm carrying snow in between the skin and ski. Got a little rip in one skin on my first day. To be fair BD immediately offered to replace the set however it seemed like a waste to throw a pair away so I didn't accept. More rips as the season progressed and we've had a pretty good year so I don't think it's because I'm skinning on rocks. Bottom line: Probably not going to get more than one season out of these. Grip and glide is amazing but you really have to baby them and refresh the glue multiple times a season.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Heather from Tip String WAY TOO LONG Be warned the tip clip string drops the bulky attachment way down from the tip towards the flat ski surface (Volkl VT88 and DPS 99), it acts like an anchor defeating the point of the great skin material. Already cut and attached so no recourse for me. I'll have to order new adjustable tip attachment when they have them back in stock. Love the weight of the skin. Great performance going up, glide compromised by tip attachment location.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Nicholas from Compact, good traction, no glide. I have used these skins a total of one day so I am unable to speak to durability. The tip loops are a pain to install but that is a one time thing so its not a deal breaker. The skins pack down pretty compact. They seem to have traction comparable to the previous generation of Glidelite's but these ultralights have significantly less glide than the old solid orange nylon BD ascension skins.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Allen from nice light and compact skins I have been using these for almost a month now. They have been great skins so far. Light and compact in the pack. They glide very well. Don't climb quite as well as all synthetic skins but for the most part they have been fine. The only issue so far is that one of them tore in half as I was stripping it from my skis. So not sure what the durability of these will be.
