Pro Tip: Joe Grant On The Distance Carbon Z Trekking Pole

BLACK DIAMOND PRESENTS: RHYTHM

BD ATHLETE JOE GRANT DISCUSSES CARBON DISTANCE Z

Distance Carbon Laufstöcke wurde bewertet mit 4.8 von 5 von 8.
Rated 4 von 5 von aus Featherweight These things are light. So light that they make you scared. But after putting a grip of miles on them, I'm convinced. They're simply amazing if you're really trying to shave every gram possible. However, make sure you get the carbide tips. The ones that come with these poles aren't great for hard ground or icy conditions.

Rated 5 von 5 von aus Featherlight and functional In short, these are extremely functional poles, and weigh next to nothing. Others have already hit on this. If you don't need your poles to collapse, take a hard look at these. If you've used the Distance Carbon Z poles, then you've basically tried these, which are nearly identical, except a) they don't collapse and b) the shaft diameter is slightly smaller (perhaps by 1 mm). The grips and straps are identical to the Distance Carbon Z. The narrower shaft implies slightly reduced stiffness and strength compared to the Distance Carbon Z. Whether or not this is a meaningful, I cannot say--but these seemed sufficiently stiff to me. These are ridiculously light, weighing in at 6.73 oz (190.8 g) for a pair in 125 cm length, including the carbide tips (and omitting the rubber tips). That's around 4 oz lighter than the Distance Carbon Z. I've used these on a number of longer on-trail hike/runs, and have zero complaints--they're poles, they work, they have robust grips and straps, and they are super light. 'Nuff said. We'll see about durability--but for now, five stars.

Rated 5 von 5 von aus Efficient travel when the going gets steep. I've been pole curious for awhile and finally gave these a try this summer. I've got nearly 200 miles of running with them in the Tetons and Palisades ranges and absolutely love them so far. Very lightweight and easy to run with, it's been fun to mix things up a bit with the poles. For steep ascents, descents, snow, scree etc. they provide some balance, propulstion, stability, and fun. I love coming up to technical section of downhill, double planting the poles and just jumping over the obstacles. I like them so much I'm going to be using them at an upcoming race.

Rated 4 von 5 von aus My old Distance Carbon Z-Poles almost feel heavy! These were the poles I’d always wanted: One piece, in theory, should be lighter, stiffer, stronger. The grips have evolved slightly: They’re a bit more tapered and the lower “pommel” or “trigger” is a bit more subtle (you can’t quite get as much leverage but it is adequate). Time will tell if they are durable enough. Would get 5 stars if there was less packaging (a problem with all BD stuff) and if they came with carbide tips (do people really use the rubber tips??).

Rated 5 von 5 von aus Best Running Poles These poles are incredibly light, it seems like they weigh about as much as an a couple energy bars. I love them so far.

Rated 5 von 5 von aus Lightweight is an understatement! The Distance Carbon Running Pole rounds out the Distance Running pole family by adding an ultra-light fixed length pole to the quiver. This pole is crazy light, sometimes I forget that I have anything in my hands! The benefit of having a light fixed-length pole, is that you can deploy them into action whenever you want. Whether its a short punchy climb or a long grinding slog up the side of a mountain, the Distance Carbon Pole comes to the rescue and gets you up the hill. When you are ready to descend, grab the poles by the handy balance ring and fly down. Since the pole are already in your hands, they will be ready for your next climb. Sometimes I will hold both poles in one hand on flatter sections or one in each hand ready for the next hill. The Distance Carbon Pole is great for many scenarios. 1): Thru-hikes or FKT style outings where you want to move light and fast but want to use poles 2): This pole is applicable in many race situations. Vertical Kilometer racing come to mind. 100 mile races such as Hard Rock 100 or UTMB. 3): Running in the mountains in Winter. Add on the Z-pole baskets (sold separately) and you have the perfect stabilizer to get you up and down your backyard hills.

Rated 5 von 5 von aus Helium infused carbon? Due to the competitive nature of my wife and her 20+ years of incessant feats in the high mountains around the world she developed some issues with both of her knees. She has been using trekking/ running poles for the treks to numerous base camps of the higher peaks and also now when she trail runs. Living in a valley where we are graced with countless miles of magnificent trails, I began seeing the merits of using running poles while venturing out on these very long jaunts. I was a little skeptical at first but they have proven themselves to be true gold. The first run for the Distance Carbon was a 9 mile blitz around the desert scapes of the Tabeguache. They lived up to my expectations. Two days later I did the full Independence Monument Trail (12 miles) and they again, graced my stride. Most recently I ventured up the East Creek Trail (Redstone) to the alpine ridge line that overlooks Capitol Peak. It was at this point that I knew I made a wise purchase. Supple in hand, extremely light weight, and perfectly well balanced, these poles have definitely enhanced my trail game. There’s nothing that I would change with these except for the fact that the carbide tip does not come standard, even though the main photo on the website shows these poles with the tips included. Other than that, I have no gripes.

Rated 5 von 5 von aus Great running pole! I’ve had it on many runs! Light and solid! Great fixed running pole!
