Cobra Ice Tool wurde bewertet mit 5.0 von 5 von 24.
Rated 5 von 5 von aus Cobras Carbon. Mmmmmm.... Nothing absorbs vibration, is as "smooth," and all-around bomber strong as Carbon cobras. I put hundreds of high-abuse pitches on mine every year, ranging from WI easy to WI really hard spray and mixed routes, and never even think about these tools, they just work. I've climbed M11 on 'em, alpine routes, just the best all-around technical tool going. In picked-out warm ice any tool will work OK, but get on something with fresh ice up high in the mountains and advantages of having the best possible tool are apparent really fast. Note--I am biased as I worked on the design of these tools, but I helped make them so they work well! Will Gadd

Rated 5 von 5 von aus Great all rounder I've been using the Cobra's for two years now in Scottish winter, for Alpine mixed and Patagonian mountaineering. A brilliant, tough, versatile and nicely balanced axe. It has stood up to some aggressive axe torquing, hammering in pegs and is showing little sign of wear and tear. I've used self amalgamating tape around the handle to bulk it out and improve grip. This is my go to alpine axe due to the good spike at the bottom, comfortable grip on the top and general versatility for hard mixed climbing. The axe is most at home on the ice though where it seems to eat up steep ice.

Rated 5 von 5 von aus Love em... I have been ice climbing since just before the days of the McInnes/Peck Terrordactyls (which makes me a mature dude with a few miles of ice under my belt). I borrowed a set of these from a fellow guide and ice climbing guidebook author when teaching a course a while back. Wow! I immediately loved them and wondered why I had not tried them before. I have tried a lot of tools brought to classes by a lot of students but these Cobras made my eyes water. Nice balance that matched my swing perfectly. Light, not cold on the hands and good sticks. Easy to hang on to with good clearance over bulges. If you're looking for a solid, light, reliable tool that really works, do yourself a favor and try these.

Rated 5 von 5 von aus Best ice/alpine tool To put is simply they are the best all around tool out there. I have used several generations of tools (yes I started with Simond Chacal/Barracuda combo), and these tools are the best all around tool I have used. They are incredible for pure ice and/or alpine. I climbed to M7 mixed as well. They are very well balanced, and swing really well. If you climb mostly overhanging bolted rock, probably you'd be better off with a different tool, but I have used these on Stanley Glacier Headwall mixed route, and they performed really well.

Rated 5 von 5 von aus Performs excellent on all ice difficulties These tools perform excellent on all difficulties and ice conditions. Excellent on lower angle WI 2/3, but equally effective on vertical ice. Most of the weight is concentrated in the head which allows for a very comfortable, wrist flick, swing. I tend to break a lot of ice with other tools, but I have seen a significant improvement with these tools. I own grivel quantums and cassin x-all mountains, and these are by far my favorite. Quantums are lighter, Cassins have more curve, cobras are the best. I love the stiffness of the shaft, they feel so strong and secure which will give you a confidence boost on difficult ice. Excellent in the alpine and capable on rock. Really no downside to these tools. Bonus, they look awesome.

Rated 5 von 5 von aus Streamlined tools, solid performance Love these tools. My first set of cobras was the initial transition to leashless years ago and with the tweaked angle and grip size, the tool works great for reducing the need for power swings to gain purchase found with some light tools. I've found that the tool requires minimal effort to land a good purchase in the ice which is great for the long days. Some of my friends who tried them initially commented on them having a lighter head than what they were used to but after trying them out, commented on their placement security without the taxing weight of hammering a heavier tool.

Rated 4 von 5 von aus A Good Choice for Alpine Ice I own several generations of this ice tool. it has a fairly classic design, with the addition (in Gen2) of finger rests. The fact that the tools have (respectively) an adze and a north wall hammer means that these axes are highly functional in an alpine setting where I can find myself chopping rotten ice and using the occasional piton or picket. The pinky rest on the bottom of the shaft can get in the way of plunging the shaft in steep snow, but this isn't a deal breaker for this axe. I bought my Gen2 axes when the finish on the carbon fiber shafts of my Gen1 axes started to wear; I didn't want to end up with carbon fiber splinters in my hands, so my Gen1 axes are loaners and wall ornaments these days.

Rated 5 von 5 von aus Excellent Ice Tools Great Balance I have had my Cobras for 14 years. I have used them in Alaska, Colorado, Canmore and Wyoming. They have very good balance which makes it easy to be precise and stick your picks. I am not a good rock climber, but between these tools and Jeff Lowe's Ice Climbing instructions I have climbed WI 5 routes and glaciers. I used the Petzl Trigrest for Sum'tec to add pinky rests. Also, Thanks BD for bringing your gear production back to the USA. I feel safer buying camalots, again.
