How-to Video: Fitting Black Diamond Gloves and Mitts

BD athlete Andy Houseman and Nick Bullock climb Denali's Slovak Direct

Arc Gloves wurde bewertet mit 3.8 von 5 von 38.
Rated 2 von 5 von aus I wanted to love them... I use the BD Pilot gloves with a merino liner for climbing ice, but in really cold temps, I wanted something warmer. They fit well, but the built-in liner is a colossal pain in the buttocks. If there is even a tiny bit of moisture on my hands, the liner sticks to my skin and shifts when I switch to my belay goves, making it difficult to get my fingers back in when its time to climb again. If I sized up to be able to accommodate my merino liners, I lose all-important dexterity for placing screws and clipping biners. If you have hands that never sweat, these gloves would be great. My search for the perfect glove continues...

Rated 4 von 5 von aus Warm and Grippy I've been using these gloves for several months now climbing ice in Alaska. They've been surprisingly warm despite the cold temperatures. I typically wear them as my approach gloves for temperatures 5 and lower and wear them all day when its warmer. The gloves stay dry even on wet ice and the palms have been surprisingly grippy even in snow or when wet. The only negatives I have about these gloves is that the palms don't seem very durable, I doubt these gloves will make it to next season with the same performance. Also, it is difficult to put them on or take them off if your hands have sweated in them due to the liner sticking to your hand.

Rated 1 von 5 von aus Want to like them but not cutting it :( I bought these for ice and mixed climbing as a slightly warmer alternative to the Torque (which I love). I've tried two pairs over two seasons - I really wanted to like them! I have two major issues: 1) I sweat quite a bit even when it's cold and when I pull my hand out of the glove, even if I'm extremely careful, the inner liner comes out with it making it *nearly* impossible to put my hand back in. Not optimal for taking a photo at a belay... 2) Both pairs have shredded at the seam that runs from the tip of the thumb to the webbed part of my hand. I don't think I'm particularly hard on them and it has only taken 6-8 days of climbing for each pair.

Rated 4 von 5 von aus Great glove for milder weather ice climbing I purchased these a couple years ago for ice climbing in milder weather. As noted, the Arc gloves are a bit of a challenge to put on and remove, especially if your hands are damp. However, once on these glove have great grip and dexterity, so I don't need to take them off. I usually put on at the start of a pitch, and take off at the belay if I want to warm/dry them in my clothes. The OilTac leather is quite grippy, so my advice is don't try to rappel in them. So far mine have held up well over several seasons of winter climbing. I think these work better than the mixed-specific BD gloves - a bit warmer as they get damp, adequately snug and grippy.

Rated 4 von 5 von aus Functional and warm I purchased these gloves in November and have been using them weekly for cross country skiing, touring, and general winter use (shovelling, driving, etc.). They are very form fitting and warm up to about -10 C. Sizing is true to fit but they are a bit difficult to get them on and off. If your hands are sweating, they are very challenging to take off. I believe it is because of the narrow opening at the wrist. Once they are on, they perform very well. The grip is superb and they allow for good dexterity and manipulation of gear.

Rated 5 von 5 von aus Great all-around glove. The Arc glove is a great all-around glove, good dexterity and great grip. A little thin of insulation in the external area when just walking to work, giving me cold fingertips. But very waterproof and warm when moving. This gloves work great for touring in the backcountry; I splitboard, and they keep my hands warm and dry with all the maneuvers we have to do for transition with wet snow and hand tests on the way up. Sometimes a little too warm in the skinning. They are very good managing ropes or alpine tools when climbing, great grip and waterproof when punching snow. they fit really well. I have been using this gloves ice climbing, but sometimes I still hit my fingers or feel more cold. So for better coverage in ice, the Punisher are my preference.

Rated 2 von 5 von aus Wrist/Opening extremely tight I ordered the Small based on BD's size chart. However, putting the gloves on is a real struggle. The wrist area/opening is extremely tight!!! I should have sized up. Ended up selling to a female colleague since I don't normally return items I purchased online. Nonetheless, the gloves looks good and the materials feel solid. The "Black Diamond" print on the index finger is also kinda unique. I just wanna point out though that the picture is inaccurate as the palm area is dark grey instead of white.

Rated 2 von 5 von aus They Were Great Until... Good glove for alpine climbing or spring skiing until you have to take them off. The slightest bit of moisture on your hand makes it ridiculously hard to get them back on, that is if the liner hasn't pulled out of the fingers. Then it really is nearly impossible to get them back on. Aside from that the grip on these gloves are great, perfect for climbing in the Berner or Walliser Alps.
