When did you first start climbing/skiing?
I was 2 and half years old!
What do you most enjoy about your sport?
The feeling of gliding on powder snow, the freedom of choosing your own way and the pleasure of being in the mountains.
How do you define success?
Reaching my goals for me is a success. On a daily basis, life can be full of small success, but a big one is probably a very meaningful achievement.
What are you most proud of, either in life, your sport or both?
I’m proud of founding Summits4kids, a NGO helping disadvantaged children. I’m proud of winning the Verbier Xtreme comp and of becoming a Mountain Guide.
Who are your heroes?
I don’t think I can define one or more heroes in my life. Probably an alpine ski racer when I was a kid... but I can list a good number of people that inspire me everyday. I find inspiration everywhere and I like to open my eyes to different subjects in life and see the good important things to make life happier.
What inspires you?
I get inspired by very different people and in the most diverse fields in my daily life. I would say any expression of talent and passion, love and compassion; a smart and ingenious idea, or any vision outside the box are the typical sparks that light up my day and make me think deep into the meaning of life.
What are your hobbies outside of your sport?
I love surfing, mountaineering, paragliding, mt-biking, rock climbing… other than sports, I like to read a good book and watch a good movie like a normal person!!
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Eating a lot of good food!
What are your hidden talents?
Not sure I have any hidden talents...
Tell us about your most favorite place in the world:
My favorite place in the world is where I feel good and can soak in a lot of the positive energy. Often I find those feeling in the mountains, in a forest, at the top of a climb or at the bottom of a great run. But it could be also in my dreams and in my memories. Who knows where it will be tomorrow?
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I can’t really remember, but for a good number of years I wanted to become like the skiers on TV, winning the Olympic games…
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be, and why?
I would change some of my bad tempers and I wish to have longer legs...
Tell us about a time in your life when you have been scared:
In the mountains I’ve been scared a few times, in situations when I didn’t feel in control. When there was an objective danger surrounding me, but there was nothing I could do to make it safer. I was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. I could escape the situation by staying calm and putting all my skills and experience to work, doing what had to be done. But for me a real uncontrollable fear that I have is a phobia: I feel stupid and ashamed to say it, but I am really scared of birds!
Describe your perfect day:
In a dream world my perfect day would start with good sleep and a good breakfast, followed by several long, steep untouched powder runs in stable conditions, followed by a rest on the beach and a warm water surf session in the afternoon! Closing down with sunset dinner with a fish menu and ice-cream, all of it shared with good friends… is it too much??
How would your friends describe you?
Let's see... probably... stubborn, motivated, determined, humble, kind, competitive, selfish, talented, generous. A little controversial maybe, but that’s me!
