The Zone LV is a two-strap Velcro shoe that combines the award-winning comfort and breathability of our Momentum climbing shoes, with the high-performance last of our Shadows to create a shoe built for sending at the gym or the crag. The Zone’s upper consist of our Engineered Knit Technology, which provides stretch where you need it, support where it matters and all around exceptional breathability-meaning you can go hard at the gym without worrying about your feet overheating. The shoe’s last is downturned and based on our aggressive shape, making the Zone adept at pulling hard on steep rock or plastic. The Zone’s sticky Fuze rubber is molded - inspired by the way we forge our carabiners - and not cut from one sheet of rubber. This is our engineered solution to optimize our shoe’s rubber and rands for consistency and comfort. The shoe’s vamp area also has printed rubber for extra friction while toe-hooking, and the medium-flex midsole adds a balance of sensitivity and power. For hard training sessions, this is the Zone you want to be in.

Fitting the Black Diamond Zone and Zone LV

  • The Zone and Zone LV are marked with US men’s
  • US women’s
  • EU sizes, and UK sizing US women’s sizes are one size larger for the same length than the US men’s size indication.
  • Ex.: US men’s 8 = US women’s 9 = EU 40.5 = UK 7
  • Refer to the Size Chart: Men's/Women's Shoes

  1. Start with your US shoe size in either men’s or women’s. If possible, measure your foot on a Brannock device (like in a shoe store) to accurately determine the length and width of your foot.
  2. If your foot width is D or wider you should choose a Zone. If you have a C or narrower you should choose a Zone LV.
  3. For a performance fit, add .5 to your US shoe size (e.g. A US men’s 8 should get a US men’s 8.5).
  4. For a comfort fit, add 1 to your US shoe size (e.g. A US women’s 8 should get a US women’s 9).
  • Engineered Knit Technology upper provides exceptional breathability and comfort
  • 4.3mm Fuse rubber is printed and molded for superior grip, optimal consistency, and performance
  • Downturned last for steep pulling
  • Minimalist midsole for extra sensitivity on steep terrain
  • Two Velcro straps for fit adjustability - one designed extra wide for locking in an aggressive fit.
  • LV = a narrow last for low volume feet.

Climb Shoe Comparison

Climb Shoe Comparison chart

Zone LV Climbing Shoes is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid shoe Let me preface this by saying I’m not sure what the deal is with the guy who ordered the wrong size and then gave the shoe a 1 star. Sounds like a “you” problem to me. Anyways, about the shoe. It’s solid. It’s low volume is great for my skinny feet. It’s got just enough curve to ride the line between performance and comfort- they don’t kill me feet on long climbs. It’s nice and stiff and super grippy. As with any type of footwear, I reccoment trying on a pair before buying. I had to go up a half size compared to what I usually climb in. Construction seems solid and I’m sure they’ll hold up for a long time. They’re breathable, comfortable, durable, and have great performance. Climb on

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Weird sizing, great rubber, OK fit I wear my Anasazi Velcro’s size 8 and these Zones are size 10.5; so yeah, check them on your feet before you buy. Fit is OK so far, normal sized feet and the LVs need a bit of tugging on the velcro to snug up the tops, heel cup is good, toebox works fine: I stood on some credit card micro edges that would have been dicey in some other shoes I wear. Part of that has to be the Fuze rubber which is remarkably good so far. I was using trusting smears and tiny feet on some high alpine blocs and they were way stickier than I expected. Also took them to a co-op gym where they were pretty solid. I don’t think anything is going to be able to replace the original Anasazi Velcros in my book, but these will probably make it into my gym bag and the crash pad I keep in the car.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Shoe-Momentum to Zone LV Climber I love this shoe. Last winter I got the Momentum shoes in 6.5 sizing and I loved them so much and I became a sold v4, v5(ehh) climber. Sadly, in April while trailblazing in the woods, one of my shoes had somehow slipped off my carabiner. I got lazy and my school offers free rental at our climbing gym and I just used those, with the intent to get really good footwork. I finally pulled the trigger and bought the Zone LV, because in the rentals I would use, I had some space to slide laterally and learned that I have low volume feet. I ended up going up to my street shoe of 7 for the Zone LV and the second I put them on I fell in love. They are incredible. Fit my feel perfectly with a little tightness that will diminish as i break them in. Amazing shoe. Amazing grip, 10/10

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love them--sticky and functional I bought these about two months ago and I love them. I don't get what the negative reviews are on about. I love these. (Also, size complaints are ridiculous. You have to try on climbing shoes). I've climbed in 3 other shoes (2 la sportivas and 5.10s) and these are by far my favorite. They're super sticky -- I feel like I'll never come off the wall. I keep having to learn that I can stick footholds as small as I can now. They took about two weeks to break in (I climb 3x per week). My max grades are V4 / 5.11B.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sizing seems way off I have a pair of Momentums in 13 that fit and really like them, in most La Sportiva (skwama and katana) I wear a 12. After reading reviews that they ran small I hoped to get by in a 13 in the Zone LV but could hardly get my foot into the thing. I would like to be able to purchase more BD Footwear as they generally get good reviews but only when they fit and this shoes seems to run way too small.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sizing chart Opened the box and could see clearly they would not be fitting. Going to have to pay to ship them back and get a size bigger or so. Sizing chart could use some touching up.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Looks great, fits horribly. I bought this from an online store, and the shoe conversion says there's no need to go for a specific sizing rather than what you usually would have. I use La sportiva 10m, so naturally i ordered the same for these BD shoes. The shoe is probably 1.5 inches shorter. so there was no chance for them to fit, had to pay to ship them back. Disappointed :(

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Strange size I bought this pair of shoes, size 10.5 US mine is 10US... I open the box and the shoes was almost 3inch less than mine size. I was really upset, which is the real size ? What I should buy with 29cm of feet size ? Maybe 12.5 or 13? Thanks for the help
