DescriptionOur go-to headlamp for everything from midweek dawn patrols to all-night rappelling sessions, the Black Diamond Spot now features an incredible 300 lumens of adjustable light with a fully waterproof construction. In addition to its reliable, precise and powerful beam for spotting anchors or trail cairns, the Spot’s redesigned lighting profile offers improved peripheral lighting for close-range activities like cooking, reading or sorting gear, while simultaneously increasing the overall brightness. The Spot also features our Brightness Memory, which allows you to turn the light on and off at a chosen brightness without reverting back to full power. Seven different lighting modes, including red night vision, allow for fully custom lighting in any situation, and our PowerTap Technology makes for instant brightness adjustments.
- One QuadPower LED and one DoublePower white LED emit 300 lumens
- Red SinglePower LED for night vision has dimming and strobe settings and activates without cycling through white mode
- PowerTap™ Technology allows instant transitioning between full and dimmed power
- Sleek, low-profile design uses three AAA batteries
- Brightness Memory allows you to turn the light on and off at a chosen brightness without reverting back to full power
- Settings include full strength in proximity and distance modes, dimming, strobe, red night-vision and lock mode
- IPX8: Waterproof-Tested to operate up to 1.1 meters underwater for 30 minutes. If submerged, water may enter the battery compartment and it will still operate, and it should be dried out completely afterwards.

Rated 2 out of 5 by mattr from Irregular yellow spot in the center The irregular yellowish and darker appearing area in the center of the beam is distracting. People usually try to point the beam directly where they want to see most clearly. With this lamp I see details better when pointed slightly to the side. For me this is very annoying and makes an otherwise good headlamp almost unusable. Numerous others have complained about the same issue. The manufacturer's explanations and excuses in response to similar comments below are completely unconvincing. If they think a more yellow light is better, they should make it homogeneous yellow or put the more white area that appears brighter in the center and not the other way around!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jason from Solid and depndable I use this light for a backup light underground for work and personal trips. I spend a huge amount of time underground in harsh conditions and have used this light in 90 degree 100% humidity conditions in lava tubes in the Pacific to freezing cold mines in the San Juans of CO to hot, dry and dusty mines in Death Valley, CA. They work dependably and with a range of light settings and a red light, are perfectly suited for a whole range of applications. I've also used the Spot for multiday backpacks, kayak trips, and as a primary light underground. It works and works well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by HoDash from Bright reliable light I used this new light as my one and only headlamp for a 16 day grand canyon rafting trip. As I'm a reader, the red light feature was the most used light for the trip. It lasted the entire 16 days on one set of AAA batteries. My one complaint about the new design (I also have the old spot) is the brightness of the light. It's simply too bright for comfortable use around other people. The tap feature on the side that increases the brightness is even worse. My next lamp will likely be a step down in lumens, but I like the dark. If you do purchase this lamp, remember to hold down the on button to dim the light. This will save the batteries and the goodwill of anyone sitting across from you.

Rated 3 out of 5 by jackie27 from frustrating Design, weight, and wearability are great but the usability is lacking. Bought this light for work and quickly found two frustrating problems, the red light is weak unless whatever you are using it for is right in front of your face, and the memory. Their really needs to be a dedicated white light button and red light button, when cycling back and forth between the two you have to readjust the light intensity every time. However, once adjusted i did find the power tap to be very useful and worked flawlessly for me. My favorite feature would be having the ability to lock the device while in a bag or pocket. I really wanted to like this product but may have to look elsewhere.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Marcel from nice headlamp, but yellow spot in spotlight beam I bought the spot headlamp some weeks ago as a replacement for my old cosmo headlamp. I like the functionality and the controls of the lamp, as also the power of the lightbeam. But what I don't like is the yellow spot in the center of the spotlight beam. For lighting something in the distance this is not a problem, but when using the spotlight beam at close distance at low power this yellow spot is annoying. I read black diamonds response concerning this issue reported by another reviewer, explaining the degrees Kelvin. But I don't agree with it, because I find the yellow spot annoying, and I own an older cosmo and a brand new ion, and neither of these two show a yellow spot like the spot headlamp does. I would have rated this headlight 5 stars without the yellow spot.

Rated 1 out of 5 by jules from Yellow spot spoils it, so disappointing This light has a yellowish central spot surrounded by good bright white. The yellow spot is disturbing to clear vision and constantly annoying. For me this defect over-rides the light's good features. In other pages Black Diamond stated they consider the yellow spot to be "normal". Seems an odd statement and I've not encountered this kind of yellow spot in other brands. For me, the yellow spot makes the Spot headlamp a total fail. Please BD produce the same lamp with completely even white light - then it will be excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jay N from An excellent upgrade from the 2016 version. I have owned the 2016 Spot and now the 2017 version; looks and weighs exactly the same. Huge difference is it went from 200 to 300 Lumens, and also have the memory function, where it doesnt revert to full power. You might love it or hate it. Either way, I'm keeping both models. Thank you Black Diamond!!!,

Rated 2 out of 5 by oprincipal from Looking for a really waterproof model It's a deception after getting wet as water gets into the battery compartment causing all sort of problems....I don't know how this is rated as IPX8 waterproofing but after a couple of fishing sessions it simply collapsed and even the frontal mirror cracked . Bought this lamp for rock fishing after holding the Storm model for several years, fishing in hard situations without any malfunction over all this time. Really dissapointed and looking for an effective waterproof model after reading about buzzing problems in the new Storm model reviews
