DescriptionOur rugged, fully waterproof workhorse for foul conditions and big adventures, the Black Diamond Storm Headlamp now features 350 lumens of power and three different colored night vision modes. The redesigned lighting profile offers improved peripheral lighting for close-range activities like cooking, reading or sorting gear, and the Storm also features our Brightness Memory, which allows you to turn the light on and off at a chosen brightness without reverting back to full power. Eight different lighting modes allow for fully custom lighting in any situation, and our PowerTap Technology makes for instant brightness adjustments.
- One QuadPower LED and one DoublePower white LED emit 350 lumens
- Red, green and blue SinglePower LEDs for night vision have dimming and strobe settings and activate without cycling through white mode
- PowerTap™ Technology allows instant transitioning between full and dimmed power
- Brightness Memory allows you to turn the light on and off at a chosen brightness without reverting back to full power
- Sleek, low-profile design uses four AAA batteries
- Settings include full strength in proximity and distance modes, dimming, strobe, red, green and blue night-vision, and lock mode
- Waterproof and dustproof: Sealed housing withstands immersion up to 1m for 30 minutes (IP67)

Rated 2 out of 5 by Gudella from Good light and funcions but annoying noise The light itself is great and i like all the function, especially that the red and green lights remember the previous intensity after turning off and back on again. But now i have to try to avoid use the normal white light as much as possible, as it makes a really annoying whining noise. You don't even have to be in a really silent environment to hear it. Out in nature it can drive me crazy. It's a shame, as apart from the coil whine it's a really amazing little lamp. (also could be better if with less flicker on the white light. It's not something that you notice by naked eye, but on the long run it makes your head hurt)

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jack from Great light, "brightness memory" still rubbish This is my 3rd version of the storm light. It is a great light with really logical controls. An improved light output means a shorter battery life unless you turn it down, which leads my to my annoyance with this version and the previous version. The brightness memory only works on the red light and only works if you stay on the red light. As soon as you move off it (eg change to the green light, or change to the white light, it forgets the brightness setting). If it could remember the last setting for each light (spot, flood, red and green) and remember them when you switch between them, it would be the perfect light.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Ben B from Great light but... I bought this headlamp a few weeks ago and it has been very useful. Bright for a head lamp. My only issue so far is that it has a very noticeable wine when the light is turned on. I may have not noticed it if was were a normal flashlight but since it sits on your head, it's very noticeable. For someone like me who already has bad tinitus in my left ear, this may be a deal breaker. Besides the wine, it's a great piece of equipment. Build quality is excellent, housing is solid and the strap is comfortable. If it didn't have the wine I'd rate 5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tappdog from Very bright, a bit heavy I've used the 2016 version for a year, and it's been dropped in puddles, thrown into numerous backpacks and cars, and even ended up in a campfire for a few seconds. Outstanding light, though the one nit-pick I have is it's weight and slightly larger profile. Don't misunderstand that this is a reason to avoid it, as that isn't the case at all (I just bought another one). Just be aware that if you're doing high activity sports, this light will bounce a bit. Still, you can see a LONG way down the road, and the instructions are fairly straightforward. Would I but again, absolutely.

Rated 4 out of 5 by RemoteHiker from Awesome Light (4.5 Stars) This is my 3rd Storm. The first I used for almost 2 years on SAR missions was replaced under warranty without hassle, the second I carried to provide to lost hikers on SAR night missions and as back-up to my Polar Icon was stolen. Toward performance, I used just last night on a hike. I’m not quite sure I’d agree with burn time stats; yet, I’ve not pushed it. I prefer to ensure batteries are charged after each use. For the price, totally impressed and satisfied with quality, construction and illumination and tucks, with spare set of batteries, easily into hip belt pockets of any of my backpacks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Backcountry BowHunter from Disappointing I had the previous generation Storm for 4 years before it had an electronic issue. That headlight was awesome, so I replaced with the new generation. The new one has a terrible battery life and failed me during a late season bow hunt and then completely failed opening morning this year as I hiked in. Had swapped batteries and the light just died no battery warning and no response after pulling the batteries and putting them back in. BD normally makes great stuff, I know guys who trust their lives to their climbing equipment but this light was a major let down for a serious user. Go with the previous generation model.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Miko from This headlamp ia wonderful, except... I bought this headlamp because of its IP67 rating and its features were just icing on the cake. I didn't realize, however, that the device buzzes like a mosquito. I contacted customer service and they told me regardless of manufacturer, buzzing is on every headlamp that keeps a consistent brightness until battery depletion. I'm a senor in electrical engineering and this statement is utter nonsense to me. While devices like this may emit noise, the majority of them are not even close to being audible. I don't notice any noise from the spot or any other manufacturer's headlamp. If you don't care about noise, go for it, this product is incredible. Pros: a plethora of features you don't see in any other headlamp, IP67 dust and water resistance Cons (other than buzzing): weight (4 AAA instead of 3), headband has a plastic that faces inward which hurts after a while. If it didn't have buzzing, it would be rated 5 stars or 4.5/5. Please fix this Black Diamond.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jimba007 from The search is over! As an avid outdoorsman and DIY person I have been searching for a headlight that will allow me to illuminate what I need to see and do it for as long as possible. Up to now The typical featureless 3 battery AAA lamps have been a real dissapointment. Enter the 300 lumen 4 AAA battery Storm. My holy grail, finally. With dimming control and a ton of great features all my other lights are jealously collecting dust. Now I control my light source instead of it controlling me. With the amount of use I have gotten for going on 3 months I am completely amazed at the fact I have the original batteries installed and still have more than half of the battery life yet to go! Congratulations Blackdiamond for a truly great piece of engineering!
