Icon Rechargeable Battery is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Time will tell Time will tell how durable this ends up being, and how well it holds a charge. Figured I'd be the guinea pig because I couldn't find any reviews anywhere. I don't have a scale but it feels comparable in weight to the standard loaded battery pack. Interesting features: -USB charging port to charge other devices (cell phone, inreach/gps...) in a pinch. -Rear flashing light mode (red) -Charge indicator light -3 year warranty Flap over charging ports fits securely. Connector screw to head lamp works well. I love my Icon and I look forward to using fewer disposable batteries (or losing rechargeable batteries and chargers...). Four stars because it seems well constructed and integrates easily as intended. I will update when I have any further thoughts on functionality and durability.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cheap input door. I like much if BD gear, but I’m crucial with many companies from fear of quality being lowered while prices stay the same or either go up. This seems like a cheap device because the flap that is supposed to close to protect the usb inputs doesn’t stay put when closed. It just flips open automatically. Both usb and micro usb inputs will just get filled with snow in a storm and will likely turn to ice inside. This should be fixed...cause it’s a $50 dollar battery essentially. On top of that I’m very confused as to why all their new products that use batteries still use micro usb and haven’t been upgraded to usb-c. These days that’s a sign of a product not well thought out, or a cheaply designed product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerhouse! I bought this battery pack and icon headlamp in 2017 for climbing 14ers for sunrise, backpacking, hiking, hunting, the list goes on and on! This battery pack for the icon is absolutely amazing. I went out last summer on a 6 day 55 mile backpack trip with four 14ers and I didn't even have to charge this pack throughout the trip! This battery pack also holds a charge for quite some time. It is absolutely a must with the icon whether it is a backup battery pack or primary! For me it is primary as the battery life lasts so long and can be charged. I have yet to charge from this battery pack with other devices but I'm sure it does great. Another great Black Diamond product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kick butt product I bought one over two year ago because I was tired of replacing batteries due to using the Icon headlight 24/7 for everything!! I mean everything... I live in dark and grey Seattle and I use this headlight and now a Rechargeable Battery Pack for biking, hiking, guiding up Mt. Rainier, kayaking the San Juans, white water rafting.. yup at night... and I'm a mechanic and the tight beam with the extra boost is the best!! Anyway, back to the Rechargeable Battery Pack, it is great because when the power of the light dims just a bit (which surprising take a while and I usually have it on high) I plug it in and charge it to full again without having to put in fresh batteries. Also I am very rough with my equipment and this pack holds up to me dropping it on hard surfaces from high or in water or salt water, mud, gravel and crushed under gear or stuff. NEVER had a problem... have charged this pack well over 200 times and puts out like new... well worth it... just on cash(batteries) and performance(brightness) and durability(pretty much bomb proof) and no maintenance(no taking out/putting in batteries). I have 3 Icon polar headlights and 3 Rechargeable Battery Packs for backups all work great... Plus it has a back of the head red marker that is a great safety light when I bike at night. Plus if anything happens to it Black Diamond takes care of you... they have great customer service!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Barely works after 8 months Overall I am really unimpressed with this battery pack. The concept seemed good so I bought two after the old battery pack on my icon headlamp got damaged when a battery leaked. However the developed several severe problems in the space of 8 months since I bought them. - After disconnecting to charge, the headlamp needs connecting and disconnecting several times before it will turn on. - The batter pack constantly goes into lock-mode. - The lights on the pack flash when I move the pack (while it is disconnected from the headlamp), which seems to indicate a short-circuit. - The battery indicator on the lamp never reads full (yellow or red, but not green). I put this down to the pack using lithium ion cells rather than standard AA batteries, but perhaps this is related to the other faults. - The wiring inside the pack is frayed (perhaps the source of the short-circuit and the other problems). Specifically the black wire from the circuit board at the point where it goes through a hole in the cap and enters the main sheath leading to the lamp connector. Both battery packs are affected in the same way. Perhaps I just got these from a bad batch (there is a sticker on the bottom of the packs reading 096, or 960 depending on which way up you read it). But that doesn't really help me. These battery packs aren't cheap and neither is the headlamp, but now I feel I am left with 2 unreliable batteries (not great if you are in an tight situation where you depend on these things) or 2 very expensive paperweights. The old style packs that just take replaceable AA batteries aren't available and now I'm thinking I'm going to have to ditch the headlamp and the batteries and hopefully find something a bit more reliable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good (so far) not Great I've used this pack twice, both times jogging at night with the pack on my head (as opposed to the chest rig). The Good: Thanks, BD, for making a rechargeable pack! It bugs me to throw away batteries, and (on paper) it doesn't cost much performance to use this with my Icon. I love that there's a flashing light on the back. That makes this much better for jogging. The Bad: The button needs work. Several times now I've tried to turn the light on and realized after taking it off that the light wasn't on or wasn't strobing (it's too dim to see the reflection off my hand to check that it's on, but it seems like it has the perfect brightness). The button needs a more positive feel to it; it's very mushy. If future models used the same button as the top of the Icon itself it'd have the right feel to use, even with gloves. The light functionality is hard to cycle through. Between the button feel and the confusing cycling instructions it took me several minutes, even after looking at the directions, to get to a strobing red light. Usually then I could just turn it off and on and it remembered the setting, but at least once it either forgot or (more likely) I switched modes unintentionally feeling around the soft button on the back. It then took me a few tries to get back to the red strobe. I'm not sure why you couldn't just cycle through the four modes with a quick 2-click, then on or off to the remembered setting with a 1-click. The Ugly: It's a little heavy on my head, overbalancing the light in front, which is just the nature of batteries and especially rechargeable. The real concern is if I put it on the Icon's body harness, the flashing red strobe is no longer in a position to announce my presence to traffic behind me. Eventually I'll probably just fix it on a waist pack and endure the callipygian highlight. Overall, I'm glad I bought it, but that button's going to continue to be problematic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is my new backcountry charger. I always had a goal zero charger with aa batteries for charging in the back country. Now I just use this and charge from it at night instead of the battery pack. Awesome! Just the head lamp and Solar panel saves weight and still provides charges to my phone and sat device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than Conventional Batteries When I purchased this it was to replace the conventional batteries. Am I glad I did it is lighter than the conventional batteries and last as long. Great investment!
