Forge Down Hoody is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent winter jacket It’s always been a struggle finding a winter jacket that has both the correct fit and the ability to provide sufficient warmth - this meets both of those. I’m 6’4” and 185 lbs, and the large fit me perfectly (body and sleeve length). I have long arms and, thanks to the gusseted arms and ample sleeve length, I can extend my arms out without exposing my wrists. I’m able to wear this with nothing but a t-shirt on underneath down to 20F. Anything colder and I wear the Black Diamond CoEfficient Jacket (also fits perfectly for my stature) as a mid layer and it keeps me toasty down into the single digits.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Funky chest pocket. This is a pretty cool jacket. It is slim and super lightweight. It's probably about as warm as a mid-weight fleece. My only issue is that the chest pocket puffs out when I put the jacket on, which looks a bit ridiculous. (see attached photo) I'm not sure if it is just my jacket or my body that causes it to do that but I just can't get over it. I had to knock my rating down 2 stars just for that which may seem a bit harsh but I find it incredibly annoying. Other than that issue though it is a nice jacket and if they fix the chest pocket I would love to see this in a vest.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Jacket I bought this jacket a little under a month ago, I am very happy with my purchase. It is a great jacket for both day to day wear as well as outdoor use. I am a mountain rescue team member, and this jacket performs great in a variety of weather conditions. The only downsides are that the sleeves are very small in diameter, compared to the body of the jacket. I am 5'10" 140lbs, and typically wear a medium size shirt or jacket. I had to return the medium and go with a small. The arms of the medium were a good fit, but the body was huge in comparison. The small fits just fine, although the arms are a little snug. Overall I would recommend this jacket to anyone!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great buy Great jacket- very warm, simple, tough outer material but very soft inside. I like the deep chest pocket. The sleeves are nice and long so they don't pull up when you raise you arms. Only concern is a common issue with BD gear and it is a totally understandable tradeoff- To make it climb well, the arm pits are high. I am 6', 175lbs and the medium fits awesome except in the pits, a bit uncomfortable for anything but climbing, also not much room for anything but a long sleeve underneath. I fear the large will be baggier than I want though. If you have broad shoulders I may consider sizing up.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 3 months update Wrote a quick review when I first got the jacket. I was pleased with the fitting and I still am to this day. However, the chest pocket just annoys me, especially when people around me comment how weird it looks. After three months I'm still losing many feathers which means I'm losing insulation. I have gone back to using my old worn out down jacket on colder days because the Forge Down doesn't keep me warm enough. I got my wife a Cold Forge Down jacket. The built seems much better and it isn't as thick as I thought it would be. It is also very warm with the primaloft, she loves it and on the plus side it doesn't have that funky chest pocket. I should have gone with the Cold Forge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great down jacket. Highly recommend! I'm 6'2" with long arms. Most jackets leave my wrists cool, but the XL is a great fit. Layered great over my Compound Hoody, and under my Liquid Point Shell. BD did a great job making sure all work layers congruently. Multiple pockets along with the internal stash holes are great. Lightweight and packs well. Highly recommend!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A rare miss I've had great success w/ BD clothing but this one is a rare miss. As others have said the chest pocket is funky but that's not a large issue. After just a couple weeks of light use the down fill is shedding like crazy and migrating within the baffles creating flat cold spots. The hand pockets are too low to use with a harness and the opening is too small if you have anything larger than glove liners on. The zipper pulls are all some plastic junk, very hard to use with gloves or cold hands. Length is excellent in the torso and arms but the opening for the arms is too small making it impossible to layer over anything more than a thin base and light fleece. It does stuff into the chest pocket but doesn't really compress down very small and doesn't have a carabiner loop, very bulky hanging off a harness. On the positive side, the face fabric is excellent, very durable so far, sheds a light rain with ease, it's also rather stretchy. Combined with the length this makes mobility excellent but this is not enough to make up for the other faults. Other similar offerings are only slightly pricier but massive step up in design and build quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Value Down Jacket on the Market Very warm jacket. Perfect standalone piece from high 20s up to mid 50s. I wish BD made a vest based on this design. At 5’8” tall and roughly 165lbs a size medium fit perfectly through the shoulders and chest.
