Mission Ski Shell - Men's is rated out of 5 by 58.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Luke from Bomb shelter for when it's nuking out I have about 10 days in this jacket over a range of conditions: cold, wet, deep, everything but blue-bird. It has a "freeride"-like fit, meaning that it's roomier than most of BD's mountaineering-oriented jackets. Typically I size up with BD shells, but with the Mission I went true to size and it leaves ample room for layering underneath. As an example I can easily wear a base layer, fleece, and puffy under it without restricting movement. The hood fits comfortably over helmet and goggles and the collar comes up to just under my nose when fully zipped. Nice for staying warm on the lift. The material feels very durable, as does the stitching, seem taping, and zippers. I shouldn't need another resort jacket for many years. My advice: get this jacket before everyone else does.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mack Wa from Bomb Proof This jacket is Bombproof. What a fantastic Jacket. It's the perfect freeride jacket. pros: - Packs away into the hood pretty small rolled up - GIANT arm pit zips - Goretex Pro will stop nearly anything from coming through and is very abrasion resistant - The lining on the inside means that the goretex won't stick to your skin in the spring causing a moisture lock effect. - Hood has lots of room for any helmet and can be synched down pretty tight. Cons: - I'd like to see future versions of this jacket with a draw cord in the front of the jacket so the chin cuff can be kept out of the way - although the fit is very true, the powder skirt is pretty loose Overall: A jacket you will not regret adding to your gear collection

Rated 3 out of 5 by alexskiandclimb from Solid jacket, malfunctioning zipper Have been using this jacket for about 2 months. Super solid fabric and very waterproof. Definitely on the heavier side but you won't tear a hole by hitting a tree branch while skiing. Size is on the big side. I usually wear Medium and this was HUGE (especially the hood that is big enough to accommodate an astronaut's helmet), so I sized down to Small. My biggest problem is the main zipper that started sticking and jamming when I zip up around mid-chest. This issue is getting worse and I've experienced the same problem with a similar BD jacket before. It is a YKK zipper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DODskis from Freeride design at it's best. I have put a lot of days on this jacket so far this season, and it is hands down, the best design with intuitive features that is matched with burly construction. My biggest problem with other "high end" shells from other manufacturers has been durability. I work on snow, year round in both hemispheres and I don't have time to deal with poor construction and I am really impressed with BD's choice of materials and function. Fit - BD has come a long, long way from the skinny style mountaineering type ski apparrel. The mission has a great relaxed fit with room for layering and I don't feel like a banana in its skin when doing spins. Material - 70D nylon used on the shell is bombproof and will stand up to just about anything. This thing will last a long time. The vislon zipper used is beefy with larger teeth and a reassuring vvvvvvvp, when done up. zippers are a major week point for any shell and I feel BD recognizes this and didn't go cheap on this feature. The brushed microsued collar is extended and great for turtling in during fowl weather. The collar itself has a really nice raised dome feel to it that easily protects your nose and ears against days and days of face shots. Features - A plethora of features have gone into this shell. the biggest one for me is the extended length pit zips. Very useful for dumping excess heat really quickly on warm days and vigorous touring excursions, running from rib cage to elbow. The jacket has more storage options that some small day packs with double napoleon chest pockets, hand pockets (microsuede on the inside) RFID shoulder zip pocket, and 2 dump pockets internally to accommodate anything from skins, beanies, hip flasks or whatever! Pockets locations and function has been well thought out. The hood is oversized to fully fit a helmet and the coahesive cord magement system works well. This was the only thing I didn't love about the shell. I personally prefer 2 chords in the front and one in the back for hood management, but maybe that's just me. Overall - It's hard to find a reason why you wouldn't give this jacket five stars. BD seem to be taking a lot of their product research and R&D straight from athletes and Industry professionals that is resulting in very durable and highly functional products. The Mission Jacket is a flagship example of this. Keep up the great work BD!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Sledski from Returning, medium is ginormous! Well the product itself I love and seems to be excellent quality. However, I will need to return it. I got a medium and it's absolutely ginormous. Other reviews show true to size to slightly large. I purchased a medium, I am 5'9" and 150 lbs. I think it would fit someone 6'3" and close to 200 lbs. Bummer I was really looking forward to this one. The powder skirt is below my rear and the arms are probably 4-5" inches too long!

Rated 1 out of 5 by 1timebuyer from Good jacket, terrible customer service I bought this jacket over Black Friday sale, tried to exchange for a different size but was told to return it then order a new one. They received the jacket Jan. 10 and was told it would be a week for refund at most but it really took 7 weeks. I had to provide the shipping number which is not a requirement for returns anywhere and badger them for weeks before they finally refunded me. And there was a 34.00$ charge from them that they won't aknowledge so I've just accepted that loss at this point. Nice jacket, but not worth another order through black diamond... Went with a north face free thinker, way cheaper just as nice

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mango vampire from Superb. This jacket is flawless, it layers, it breaths, durable and warm. Ive crashed into trees with the thing, and it barely put a hole through the pocket, and didn't even go all the way through, so it might not be bomb proof but it's tree resistant, which is more important unless you lay Avalanchr charges. The jacket is so waterproof, if you leave your pocket unzipped while skiing you'll have a pool of water in it by the end of the day. However, the zipper came off, which would be annoying if they weren't willing to ship me a replacement within days, I didn't even miss a day of skiing. 10/10 product and support.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lucas from Wonderful Jacket! Keeps me warm and dry My local mountain is Mount Baker, so i am accostumed to heavy deep snow and even pouring rain. This jacket has kept me warm and dry on the rainiest days and makes those days enjoyable. Only problem with the jacket is the zipper which snapped off after a season of use(my friends just snapped off his yesterday) and the velcro is coming apart on the sleeves. I sent it back and the good folks at BD are sending me a new one very quickly. Other than that you can't ask for a better jacket. I probably have over 100 days in in over the past year.
