Rated 2 out of 5 by Seth from almost there I liked the overall design of the bag however there are two major flaws. The first is that it does not have any load lifters on the shoulder straps. These may not be necessary for a smaller bag but for a bag of 45L I think they are a must. Due to the lack of load lifters it does not carry weight very well. My second critique is that the waist belt is too big, i.e. it can not be tightened enough. I really wanted to like this bag however these issues with how the bag carries weight make it a non starter. I'm sure these issues are not as glaring or important on the smaller sizes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jim from Great ski pack overall Pros: Clean, minimal straps & buckles to get hung-up on stuff, or flapping in the breeze. Top loading closure system is well designed and easy to use with gloves or mittens on. Internal shovel/avy tools compartment is very easy to work with, and well designed. (Internal sleeves too narrow for my G3 Saw, BD saw fits fine.) Pack carries & skis quite well. One of the lightest packs I own. Cons: Top overflap could be a bit bigger. Accessory top flap is almost useless, I ordered one and found it too light-duty, and when you cinch it down, it is too tight to get anything out of the zipper access. Waistbelt pouch needs some refinements: if you open it when waistbelt is not buckled, everything falls out. Also, the pouch needs a retainer clip inside to clip things like car keys into.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Beean from Probably the best bag I've owned I've had this all winter and have used it multiple times per week since I bought it. It's probably the best bag I've ever had. Pros: Compresses well and carries great regardless of the load. Ice axe removal is great for the odd bit of sketchy skiing. Ski carry is clean and fast to use Pretty light but there's still no signs of scuffing or rips. Very durable. Side pocket is a godsend for taking photos. The compression strap locations do not interfere with zipper access. What a clever feature. Can't lose the helmet carrier because it's sewn in. Cons: The top strap could be longer for when you've got a full pack and want to carry your skis diagonally. Hip belt pocket should be bigger.

Rated 3 out of 5 by ebecker from Functionality Good, Poor Quality Fabric I bought the bag for alpine ski touring and mountainering just a couple weeks ago. Had my first outing with it this past weekend, and 3 tears in the fabric and other areas showing stress. Hopefully BD works to strengthen fabric in areas of high stress. Functionality of bag was nice. The top overlapping flap could be wider to cover entire opening. Avalanche pouch is better suited on outside of main compartment lid. Fit well, and hauled alot of gear with it. Could use a couple more straps for pockets for equipment attachment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tim from Innovative and convenient opening and closure Bought this for a ski pack that would have good capacity for hut trips and SAR stuff, without the weight of an airbag system. After a couple outings it works great in that role. The diagonal ski carry is great, and unlike my agent pack doesn't pull the skis so forward that you have to have a helmet on. This also will make a great sport crag pack, and in fact I sold my old one already. Probably make a great ice pack as well. I really like the top opening.... very quick to get in and out of. Top zipper pocket is also well designed and is a great size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bret from Great ski pack I bought the 45 liter pack to use as a daily touring pack with somewhat long approaches. Two trips out with it so far. Here's what I like about it. It feels lighter and rides smaller than my previous 38 liter pack. It also holds more stuff. I find myself using the side access zip frequently and it is easy to access and seems bomber. The top flap is kind of funky and the cord lock is kind of hard to operate with gloves and leaves a lot of spaghetti string to deal with. But the flap is secure, simple, and opens wide. I like the separate compartments. They are both roomy and have enough pockets to organize a day's worth of stuff. I look forward to trying the helmet hammock and I like it's location low on the outside of the pack. I had to fit my helmet in the lid of my previous pack and it was always a stuff job, got in the way of the other stuff in my pack and was an awkward ride. The belt pocket is large enough but tends to want to barf out your stuff if you are not careful although I do like how it stays close to your hip if not full and does not get in the way. I think that belt pockets are essential to keep enough snacks, skin wax, etc. to keep you moving so you don't have to drop your pack all the time. Overall this is a super pack and I highly recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jonathan from Solid Build A few notes that weren't obvious to me from the description: Clearly solid construction. Back panel is much stiffer and supportive than expected. Waist strap is nice and sturdy. Dense foam, but light weight. Pack actually has 3 zippered pockets. One small/medium size on the outside of the top flap. One large one on the inside away from your back for avy tools with a couple sleeves for probe/saw. One small/medium very flat one on the inside against your back with a key ring connector (this is also where you can access the aluminum back stay). There is also a hydration sleeve below this last pocket against the back panel per normal and an associated port above the shoulder straps. The ice tool retainer is similar to the speed packs - you dont have to use the quick access piolet feature advertised. There is also a fixed loop for diagonal ski carry at the lower corner of the pack. The actual weight of my cirque 45 in size M/L measured 2lb 14oz on my kitchen scale.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Cinderchutes from Great Pack. Used last season as a ski pack. I like the long and narrow fit down your back good support from firm padding. Three negatives is the small top flap which needs to be larger, enlarge or change the fabric of the belt pouch. Small stretch pouches don't work because they stretch when filled and when opened or not completely closed eject the contents. Make the avalanche pocket inside the pack smaller and the contents pocket close to your back large.
