Speed 30 Pack is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great pack I have three Speed packs (30, 40, 50) that I purchased after trying one that a client was using. I love the minimal junk hanging on the outside as I like uncluttered function rather than a lot of unnecessary gadgets, pockets and widgets on the outside. The one downside is that the top pocket and seams are not at all waterproof in a downpour (as I discovered last summer). I purchased seam sealer and sealed everything up which has altered the appearance to a degree, but I don't care. The function is what really matters to me and the speed line has it all in spades. Would warrant a five star rating but for this issue. I would certainly recommend the Speed line to anyone who values function, reasonable weight and clean lines.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Problematic Lid I want to love this pack but I can't. The top lid is the main problem. If the bag is less than full, the top flap falls down the pack exposing the spindrift collar and internal frame. You might think you'll keep your pack full but probably not always. If I have a a jacket in the pack and the lid is working nicely but then take the jacket out to wear it, then the bag is not full enough and the lid starts acting funky. A secondary problem is that this pack's internal frame catches on branches while ducking under them on a bushwhack. The suspension system is great and the pack is comfortable to carry.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A bit disapointed I bought this backpack last year and I've been using it for all my activities (mountaineering, climbing, skiing and daily city life.) But sadly there's two main things that made me drop it for a different backpack (different brand too.) First, the back frame changed shape after some use (maybe some heavier load?) making it very uncomfortable to carry. And second, the top flap would never ever stay in place, not when the back pack was full nor when the backpack was empty completely misshaping it and leaving a open gap behind the shoulder straps for all the water to go straight in.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice pack but not flawless I bought this pack as my new touring backpack for skiing and for short trekkings. I really like the minimalistic look, with a lot of choice in which straps you want to use or get rid of. Last week I also took it with me during a three day summer mountain trekking through the Austrian alps. During the three days I experienced all sorts of weather: sun, rain and snow. Even though the backpack was pretty packed, I still experienced a lot of trouble with the top part of the backpack. It wouldn't fit nicely so there was an open space between the lose top and the upper part of the pack, making the inside more vulnerable for rain and other wetness. After walking in the rain for a day, a lot of the stuff inside the pack felt wet. This will make me think twice about bringing the Speed 30 backpack with me in the mountains during the winter period.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pack I've had this pack for a few months now and it's so comfortable to carry around. Weight is evenly distributed so even after super long treks there isn't much to complain about. Overall it's held up well in all conditions, only concern is that the top portion of the pack never wants to stay in place whether or not the pack is full. Hopefully BD will make improvements in the future because I'll probably pick up another when this one bites the dust.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Functional Pack - Yes; Its effect on clothes - No As a functional pack - it's great. However, the effect the shoulder straps and back have on clothing - oh no. The pictures I've attached are of a shirt after one use with the Speed Pack - notice the blacking on the shoulder strap areas and on the back. The shirt has also been washed since - no change in the stains. This is just a shirt, if this happened to a shell, I would be much less happy. I've gone so far as to wash the pack in *detergent* with the hopes this stops. If not, I have to go back to my NF gear. I really wanted this to be the one. But now, I'm just not sure.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This version is not good This is the second Speed 30 that I use. I bought the first model years ago and in 2017 I bought the last version. The first was better that the last version. Why? Because the ice-axes strap are always under the lid. The lid is bad fixed on top so I have the summit of frame sheet always out... I'm thinking to pass to another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best alpine pack I’ve used this pack for overnight ski tours, alpine climbing approach and on route, waterfall climbing approach and stripped on route. The fact that it’s made to strip out the frame sheet, top flap, and waist belt makes it super versatile. I really like the swing-arm shoulder straps. The lightweight fabric is durable for most everything except chimney body smearing.
