Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Lightweight packs I have three Speed packs (30, 40, 50) that I purchased after trying one that a client was using. I love the minimal junk hanging on the outside as I like uncluttered function rather than a lot of unnecessary gadgets, pockets and widgets on the outside. The one downside is that the top pocket and seams are not at all waterproof in a downpour (as I discovered last summer). I purchased seam sealer and sealed everything up which has altered the appearance to a degree, but I don't care. The function is what really matters to me and the speed line has it all in spades. I would certainly recommend the Speed line to anyone who values function, reasonable weight and clean lines.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything you need, nothing you don't This is one of the better packs I have owned. For climbing, hiking and travel, this pack has everything I want in a pack and nothing extra. At 50L, this can hold a bunch of gear while still being able to carry a rope cinched under the lid, pickets or tekking poles on the side and tools on the back. It also carrys very well with just a few items packed for summit day or shorter outings. The lid holds a ton of stuff and very quickly detaches and reattaches. The tool attachments are quick and easy. I just got back from a South America climbing trip with this bag and I don't have any complaints with it's performance.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable & Light. Couple Misses. I bought this for overnight ski tours and have used it for day tours as well. Stowing the lid under the draw string helps the usability while not fully filled with equipment. One miss: the reinforced slots for the compression straps. A millimeter or two bigger and you could use voile/contractor straps instead of webbing. Also, most straps are removable (without cutting of course) except the axe straps. The lid is quite bulky and the secondary draw string closure would be better if it was rollable/sealable for days when the extra space of the lid is not needed. Other than this, the pack carries great. It's light and doesn't have too much extra bells and whistles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great light pack for light backpacking or climbs I've been using this pack for backpacking and mountaineering. It has most of the things you need without the things you don't need. It carries weight well with comfortable straps and waist band. I especially love the Reactive straps because I they give you so much more freedom of movement. I also have a chronic pulled muscle in my back and the Reactive straps don't torque my back the way a static system does with each stride. It also easily carries an ice axe and I can even strap my tripod and an insulated pad on the outside. Cons: Sure, it would be nice to have an outside mesh pocket for a water bottle or a jacket but if you want a really light pack, you don't mid digging things out of the single, main compartment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great, light pack I really like this pack and have lovingly given it the nickname, The Minion, because honestly it looks like a minion on your back :) Pros: * Extremely light * Agile * Packs Nicely and compactly * Additional straps provided for attaching crampons, etc. * Great spot for your ice axe at the bottom * Well-researched and thought out * Brain detaches * Comfortable waist and shoulder straps Cons: * Single point of entry so kind of a pain to get items in the middle or bottom of the pack * No spot for water on sides of pack

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it I got this about a month ago and used it for a couple spring skiing trips and for a day of outdoor top-roping. For a lightweight frame, it transfers loads impressively. Carrying my skis, boots, glacier rope, and other overnight equipment up to Wedgemount Lake was mostly comfortable; the knot that I usually get in my left middle trapezius with other backpacks didn't really come out to bother me. Climbing up to the Northeast Arrete and skiing down Wedgemount Glacier with this lightweight pack was awesome. It fits a 70 meter rope along with food and water for a whole day of top roping comfortably. I guess my only beef with this pack is durability; I've already made a small cut in the side of the pack from presumably the edge of my ski. Luckily the cut hasn't gotten any bigger when I discovered it last weekend for another spring skiing trip; I guess the ripstop is doing it's job. Will probably slap on some seam grip to fix it up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable! I bought this pack about a year and a half ago and have put it through the wringer. I've worn out a few packs over the last six years (some in as little as a couple months, some in a year), and I've used this harder than most of those. It has a few small cuts in the fabric, but I easily patched them. The most worn out part is the pack panel where it rubs my lower back while hiking, but it still works fine. The drawcord cordlock on the primary collar (not the extension) wore through and broke a while ago, but it doesn't really affect the function of the pack; I just cinch the extension collar and then clip and tighten the top strap to keep the top of the pack tidy. I've carried this pack on thousands of feet of granite, sandstone, ice, and snow climbing and it's been a champ. With the collar and brain it expands to haul a heavy load, and then cinches down nicely to carry on route. The foam back panel came in handy during an unplanned bivvy. Most of the time I carry it without brain, frame panel, or hipbelt pads; so it's very light and simple and still carries fine. My only real suggestion is it would be nice to have a metal hook buckle on the top cinch strap. Sometimes when cinching down a rope or compressing the overflow collar, the plastic buckle gives way, so I can't cinch it tight enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Alpine I have a lot of packs. I really like this pack due to the efficient design, gear loops, tool buckles and removable top pouch. I think is has the right amount of features for this purpose. I've carried 50lbs with it and it was still acceptably comfortable and stable.
