Distance Carbon FLZ Trekking Poles is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really adjustable practical poles, but break easil All the features are great and easy to use. Lots of height adjustment which can be applied so rapidly you can change the length as you approach a slope to suit how you’re going to tackle it. Pretty light too. Negatives are that the grips give blisters, but that might be just due to my over enthusiasm!! Also, after just three week one pole has broken - it has kinked where the z-lock button is, the carbon is half sheared and so now of course cannot take any sort of weight or pressure. Kind of disappointing way to use up £150. We’re good while they lasted though...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great weight poor strength Used these poles for geological mapping in rugged terrain. Single pole use only as the other hand was needed for use for a tablet computer. The weight and adjustability of these poles are great and were nice and convenient to use. However, after about 20 days use (~200km) they failed around the locking pin and hence, would not maintain length or integrity. Replaced under warranty but failed again in the same place. The area around the locking pin needs to be strengthened. If this was done these would be fantastic poles.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great poles but destroyed my clothes I have recently walked the complete Camino Frances across Spain and have used the Carbon FLZ trekking poles. They are very light and easy to fold when not used. Unfortunately, I have destroyed several pieces of clothing due to the poles. The reason is that they, when folded, give off a thick oily and dirty substance at the revealed joints and this substance is giving off on hands and clothings. I have cleaned the poles with paper several times but it only helps shortly. Would be fine to hear Black Diamonds and others experience in this subject.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broken in first trail, warranty repair denied First impression very good, lightweight, compact but looks sturdy enough. Unfortunately it's only the looks as they broke during first use. One pole started slightly bending in first km's, then broke completely short thereafter. Weak point - around locking pin. Opened warranty claim, was promptly denied. Product usable only for soft and slow walking, definitely not for any type of sport.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great poles Black Diamond have really got their design sorted with this pole. Short pack length is great for international travel, good range of adjustment, and quality is second to non. I use mine for mountain trekking and as support for my tent or tarp. A popup camera mount would make these perfect.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poles fail around locking pin Used these for a backpacking trip int he Adirondacks. They lasted about one day of use when the carbon started fraying around where the locking pin is. The second pole lasted another two days and then started doing the same. This design has a design flaw in it. The design around the locking pin needs to be changed to consider these poles for something other than walking around flat trails in a city park.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hiking Through the Vale of Geriatria Ever since I began using a double ski pole system for virtually all the hiking I do (and long after those years when the tick-tick-ticking of trekking poles on the trails behind me first began to drive me nuts) these have become the single item I can go nowhere without. Take the pressure off your ankles; take the pressure off your back; and keep your arms strong. You just might be able to keep going... Compared to other poles I'd been using, whether simple old ski poles, fancy shock-absorber units, Canadian crutches, or bamboo staffs taken from the side of the trail, these have all the advantages: 1) Super lightweight, of course. 2) Easy to deploy or fold up, and the Z-system means they fold as short as possible. 3) Easy-to-exchange carbide or plastic tips to have the best grip for any surface. 4) The internal tension adjustment keeps the segments from rattling after long use. 5) The flick-lock length adjustment is as quick and useful as possible. The field below asks how often I use them: why does the scale stop at 10X per month? I use them daily. These poles (along with a little bit of hip surgery) have taken me from a lifetime low capability of 500 ft./hr. back to 1500 ft./hr.; and I should be back at 2000 soon. The doctor (me) recommends them without exception. Thanks to Pete M. and his crew for this design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these poles! I have owned and used these poles for a number of years. They are strong, light and very comfortable to use. But what I love most is how fast and simple they are to fold up and flip out out again. They fit easily inside my carry on bag when travelling and were the envy of Europeans I was recently hiking with in Wales. Unfortunately I also had a fall on that trip, breaking both a pole and a wrist. Black Diamond could not repair it, but offered me a replacement pair at a 40% discount. In short, I couldn’t be happier, both with the poles and the customer service.
