Alpine Softshell Pants - Women's is rated out of 5 by 21.
Rated 5 out of 5 by kate from Great light alpine pant! I've been sorely lacking a light alpine pant after Patagonia discontinued it's simple guide pants. The BD Alpine Softshell pants are amazing! They meet my needs for a thicker, durable climbing pant. I love the fabric, the high rise in the waist with webbing belt, zippered pockets, and the long length of the legs. I am 5'7", 130lbs and have a 34" inseam (usually size 4)-the small fits great. I wasn't sure at first about the slim fit, since they're snug like skinny jeans, but I'm okay with the fit after field testing them. They have enough room to comfortably fit long underwear underneath, but I would prefer a little extra room in the legs. PS the "Granite" color is pretty much black (looks blue in the photo).

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mary from Great mobility and comfort - LOVE Though I've used the light alpine pants more since purchasing them (it's summer), I have been impressed by both. These are truly breathable, durable, and stretchy (read comfy). I don't think I'll ever hike in any other pants than BD light and standard softshell pants. These have taken many beatings up scratchy granite, and you can't tell. I can high step with as much ease as with leggings, and this is where most pants fail me - not stretchy, especially if I have sweated in them and fabrics have a tendency to stick to skin. The fit is great for me. I am 5'3" 105, no butt, strong thighs; the XS fit great. As a shortie, length is not a problem. The elasticized hem keeps that in check. Looks good en route and in town.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Langus from Awesome fit, but not the most durable. I have now owned these pants for 9 months and use them primarily for rock climbing, spring ski touring and hiking. I love the fit of the pants; the material is stretchy without getting baggy, the belt doesn't require regular readjustment-even with a harness (unlike several of Patagonia's recent belt "creations"), and the ankle synch system is easy to use and reliable (although lower pant of legs won't fit over ski boots). Down side is the material isn't particularly durable and the side pocket developed a hole in the bottom of it from just having chapstick in it for a couple of weeks. I probably wouldn't care about the side pocket so much if it weren't for the fact that it is the only zippered side pocket (bummer!). In all, my search for the *perfect* softshell pant continues and in the meantime ill probably have to replace my current pair of Alpine Softshell pants after a year of use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jenna from Solid climbing pants I just worn these pants in the field for a week and am already impressed. These pants performed well in the cold rain, functioning well as a base layer (under rain pants) as well as a soft shell. They were solid when climbing, bouldering, loitering in the harness setting anchors and belaying, and mulling around camp in the cold rain. These will be go-to pants for summer mountaineering objectives and spring/fall climbing. For reference, I'm 5'10", 145, and have a 34" inseam, and size M fits my muscular legs well (although slightly short in length).

Rated 5 out of 5 by Suzy from Amazing Material, Full Range Motion 5'10" 140 lbs, long legged. For chilly sport climbing days to warm mixed ice climbing days, this pant seriously does it all. The thin insulation layer and material are perfect for just above freezing temps. The material stretches in all the right places and provides excellent durability from rock and ice scrapes. I'm a long-legged lady, and these definitely run short - but with ice climbing boots on you can barley tell. Highly recommend, the material is bomber.

Rated 4 out of 5 by cragtrekker from Great Fabric and fit The fabric on these feels good - a light brush on the inside and sturdy exterior. I use these in the spring and fall - I like the lighter weight pant for summer. I love the fit on BD pants - they realize women have waists! I am 5'6" and the length is just right - might be too short for taller frames. The only thing these pants lack is a small stash pocket for lip protector. Otherwise, they have plenty of pockets and they actually hold things. I like that they all zip for when I am going through the woods and don't want to lose things. I can even wear them in town as they look that nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Outdoor enthusiast from Best thigh pocket! This my second pair of these pants. They are stylish and true to size. The first time I wore them, I was spending a day traveling across the country. Super comfortable and the thigh pocket is large enough to hold an oversized phone. Great, since I am always trying to figure out where to put my phone and not have it fall out of the pocket. For size reference, I am 5’7”, 130lbs and the S fits great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sdanch from Solid Bought these for my wife with the ongoing hope that I'll turn her on to climbing. She digs them. Still doesn't dig the idea of hanging belays. Windproof for most conditions, decent water shedding, and simple. Good pockets.
