ATC-Alpine Guide is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just the ticket for skinny ropes! I routinely use twin/double ropes for certain types of alpine projects requiring a lot of rappelling. I also commonly use a thin single rope for long alpine routes. I found my regular belay / rappel device didn't function as well as I hoped (especially during rappels) so I bought one of these puppies to to see whether it would change anything. The first time I did a lot of multi-pitch rappels on a route I was sold. Unfortunately I managed to drop it the day before yesterday when I was just about to begin a 10 pitch rappel descent. Luckily I had my regular device as a backup but I just ordered a replacement ATC Alpine Guide. Worth the price...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice for the half ropes! Great for my 8.1mm half ropes that want to squirm right through the regular guide ATC. Unfortunately, the range is only up to 9.0mm, so unless you and your partners only run all skinny ropes, you'll still need another regular device for larger/normal diameter ropes. Nice to have the extra friction on the thin cord though for sure!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for twin/half ropes. I use this with my 7.9mm hybrid twin ropes for alpine climbing and it is perfect for the job. I feel much safer rappelling on this with thin ropes than my regular ATC Guide.
