How-to Video: Fitting Black Diamond Gloves and Mitts

Terminator Gloves is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good spring glove but not waterproof The terminator is a good warm-weather glove that has held up well to resort and backcountry skiing. Glove construction looks to be great quality and the lining is stitched such that even when soaking wet and sticky, it stays inside the glove when removing hands. This means that when the wet glove has to be put on again, there's no need to fight each individual finger of liner into the correct outer layer of leather and nylon. Unfortunately, this also means that the glove isn't waterproof at all. Skiing in Oregon and southcentral Alaska, I see a lot of wet snow and rain through the season. These gloves get soaking wet, inside and out, when they encounter any liquid precipitation.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice fit and dexterity, the first few times. With a waterproof membrane and sturdy construction this glove almost got the through the spring season. The durable leather palm and exterior fabric are well suited to mixed climbs, accurate sticks, and palming up chimneys. The fit was good if not a bit snug at first, but unfortunately gave way to a sloppy bagged out inner liner that shifts inside the shell fabric. They are now great for corn skiing but the search continues for the perfect lightweight waterproof ice gloves.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good overall ice climbing glove for moderately cold temps I used this glove climbing ice outside of Canmore, Alberta as my primary climbing glove. Temps ranged from 15-30 deg F and my hands were plenty warm and dry. A thicker BD Punisher glove worked fine for easy to moderate climbs, but was too thick and encumbering for steeper ice. While the Terminator gloves had good dexterity, I didn't like how the lining seemed to slip inside the outer shell, especially when taking the gloves on and off. The velcro closures are pretty quick, but they require an additional step and I wonder if they will fail with use and abuse. Also, I am usually a size large glove and am finding that certain BD size Large gloves fit me a little too large, with floppy fingertips. Switching to a size Medium turns out to be too tight causing circulation issues. Maybe they will shrink a bit over time?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beyond expectations I have had my pair of Terminators for approximately 5-6 years. They have been exposed to many days working in the backcountry in BC and now in the Arctic. Perfect glove for working in cold conditions and gripping poles or requiring dexterity. They cannot withstand the COLD arctic temperatures as a mainstay glove but for working conditions they are great then you transition to a warmer glove. The glove, this year, after many years, finally broke down and have worn out requiring me to buy a new pair. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fit, Warm! I have a pretty small hand and the XS fits almost perfectly. A tad long in the finger tips, but overall great! Spent 5 days Ice Climbing in Ouray, CO and Provo, UT in mid 30 degree weather. I typically get cold hands easily and these were perfect for warmth and my hands stayed completely dry. Snug enough that holding onto ice tools all day was a breeze. I have been climbing ice for 6 years, but first year using these gloves and this is the best glove yet! Highly Recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from #1 ice glove - pro approved! I’ve been climbing ice for 20 years and guiding professionally for 10 in Northern New England’s classic cold weather environment. The Terminator Glove is hands down the best I have ever worn when looking for a combination of warm and dexterity. I buy two pairs each season - one pair on my hands and the other pair in my pack just in case.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good glove for technical work in cool to cold weather I got these gloves for technical rope work in colder weather. I needed a glove that was waterproof and windproof yet durable, highly dexterous and not very insulated, as when my heart gets pumping my hands get very toasty. They have performed well in those regards. They effectively keep my hands dry and out of the wind. Sometimes the glove gets soaked and my hand gets cold and clammy, but my hand is still _dry_. The cuffs are short so watch that snow does not get in. The leather on the palm and fingers is not bomber and is wearing faster than most of my other gloves- perhaps the price to pay for dexterity, though I wonder if a slightly higher price tag would allow the use of more durable material at the same thickness. Also, the Velcro is a pain sometimes- the hooks are on the wrist. I don't know if there is a reason it was built that way, but a consequence is regular catching on my sleeves and on various wool items inside my pack. Other gloves with the hooks on the strap almost never have this issue. Overall they've been the gloves I wanted, but it seems like they could use a few tweaks.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Gets wet This glove has a nice feel but I can't recommend it. It gets soaked from both the inside and out, even with additional waterproofing wax, and it doesn't dry quickly.
