HILLARY GERARDI
Hillary Gerardi did not intend to become a runner, but fell in love with moving quickly in the mountains while working at the Appalachian Mountain Club huts in New Hampshire during summers off from Middlebury College. She first tried her hand at trail running in the Adirondack mountains with some success, but she was more focused on skiing and mountaineering, and set off for France with her partner Brad.
She finally found a home in trail running in Alps, racing and excelling at distances from the vertical kilometer to 120 km races, and carving out a special niche in the technical, mountain Skyrunning discipline. She competed in the Skyrunner World Series from 2017 to 2024, finishing 4th overall in 2017 and 2023, and second overall in 2018 and 2024. She likes to combine her skillset in endurance sports with higher mountain activities, and set the first women's record on the famous Chamonix to Zermatt Haute Route Ski Traverse in 2021, broke the women's record on Mont Blanc in 2023, and with her teammate Karina Carsolio, set Fastest Known Times on two 6,000 meter peaks in 2024.
When she is not running, scrambling or planning adventures, she is seeking ways to combine her passion for mountain sports with action on environmental issues.

Engineered to Go the Distance: Hillary Gerardi Runs the Distance LT 1100 Headlamp

I love moving through mountain environments - both quickly and slowly - letting myself feel fully present where I am and in what I'm doing. When I'm out, I somehow can feel both powerful and insignificant at the same time.
