Do not buy: issue with locking mechanism

"Another victim of these poles over here! These poles use a metal tab mechanism designed to lock them in the extended position. However, the tab gets stuck and does not lock properly. As a result, the poles can unexpectedly fold while I am using them. This is a serious concern, as it poses a significant safety risk when moving on mountainous terrain. Do not buy."

Good poles

"One of the best poles I've ever used. The hand straps are very comfortable, even on ultra distances. Good grip. You need to clean them regularly, as was mentioned in a critical comment below. But I’ve experienced the same with other brands as well."

Poles jammed together and useless after 2 month.

"I bought a pair of these poles to replace a set I bought 4 years ago (on which the locking mechanism snapped). However, after a couple of months of use, I the poles had seized inside the folding mechanism (they are completely jammed and there's no hope of pulling them apart). Waiting to hear whether BD will honour the warranty, which they wouldn't for the previous pair of poles."

Love my old one's

"I have a pair of Distance Carbon Z poles that I bought in 2015 and have done thousands of kms, I love them. I nearly lost them recently and wanted to see if they were still available if I should need to replace them. It's a bit disturbing to see these negative reports."

DO NOT BUY ENGINEERING DEFECT

"I am an avid trail runner. I bought running poles to use in the mountains. The first pair of poles I bought was in late October. I used them a few times and they completely jammed when I stored them after use. This is something that seems to be happening to many customers. I take good care of my products and therefore this is unacceptable. BD replaced under warranty but then the same thing happened. Now BD are trying to walk back from helping me out in any meaningful way. You are far better off going elsewhere and buying a product that actually works. Don't buy this product. Even if on discount. In the end it will cost you more money."

Great when it works, until it doesn't

"It's my 3rd pair of Carbon Z poles, 3rd time the lock mechanism gets stuck and doesn't budge making the poles unusable. Even WD40 doesn't help, my last one lasted just about a year with at most 20 runs with it. This is simply a design flaw that needs to be addressed, will switch to another brand as buying a pair each year is not really sustainable. This problem also makes me really nervous using those during a race knowing they might become unusable any time."
