I bought the Black Diamond
"I bought the Black Diamond Cirque Ultra 25 in October 2025. As a professional mountain guide, I use my gear hard and expect it to hold up under real working conditions. I used this pack for around 20 days of guiding before the back strap failed. The stitching that secures the small rope adjustment system on the shoulder strap simply tore out, making the pack unusable. This was especially disappointing because one of the reasons I chose this model was its minimalist design. I appreciated that it avoids plastic buckles on the shoulder strap adjustment and instead uses a cleaner rope-based system. I assumed this would be more durable and streamlined. Unfortunately, that was not the case. On the positive side, the overall bag layout is well thought out. The dedicated avalanche equipment compartment is practical and well organized, which is important for professional use. The main compartment design is efficient and functional for ski mountaineering objectives. However, the shoulder strap pockets are poorly positioned. I struggled to store anything useful in them, as items felt bulky and uncomfortable. I am 170 cm tall with an athletic build and chose the smaller size. It is possible that the larger size would have fit better, but regardless of sizing, the strap failure after only about 20 days of professional use raises serious concerns about durability. In summary, while the design and organization are strong points, the durability—particularly of the shoulder strap construction—is far below what I would expect from a technical pack in this category."
