"On this trip to Bhutan, I did not change out the carbide tips because they still had lots of life left. I took the new ones for emergency spares. The carbide tips give excellent performance in most situations. I used the tip protectors when the poles were in the suitcase or daypack. Also…I made sure not to take the folded poles in cabin baggage, only checked bags with the tip protectors on."
