Founded by Lou Whittaker in 1969, RMI is the oldest and largest guide service on Mt. Rainier and one of the premier mountaineering guide services in the world. Dedicated to teaching and leading climbers from the beginning, RMI has since introduced generations of climbers to mountaineering and built a 50+ year legacy of safe, successful and enjoyable mountain adventures.
Staffed by some of the most experienced guides in America, RMI also leads expeditions, skills seminars and guided climbs on high peaks around the world, including Denali, Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, and the volcanoes of the central Andes.
RMI collaborates with Black Diamond on key product designs, and is an integral part of our rigorous field testing program.
